While I started out in small libraries, mostly in the Costa Brava, I’m now working for Catalonia’s 400-strong public library system, that serves 25 million visitors and loans 15 million items. I’m involved in innovative projects, including ‘Biblioteques amb DO’ Libraries-DO-ing it” which links up wine culture, local authors, and local wine.
I have a diploma in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Barcelona and a Degree in Information Sciences from the Open University of Catalonia. At this same university I actually work as a tutor for students enrolled in the Information Science degree program. I’ve been earned several specialized post-graduate diplomas as well as a Master’s degree in cultural management.
My professional career has been closely linked to public libraries, most importantly in my position as head of the Public Library of Palafrugell (Girona) for 13 years. Over the years I’ve published some articles in professional journals, some of which can be consulted at the following address: https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carme_Fenoll_i_Clarabuch
Last year was declared “Year of the Library” in Catalonia, in commemoration of the centennial of the creation of the Catalan network of public libraries. One of the objectives has been to create a closer tie between libraries and other elements within the national cultural and entrepreneurial framework.
I will be mostly tweeting about libraries and cultural topics. I hope you’ll enjoy ‘my week on Twitter’ as much as I will! J
