I’m Àlex Hinojo, a Digital Renaissance promoter and cultural sector engager from Barcelona. I work as a project Manager for @AmicalWikimedia, a non-profit organization whose focus of interest is the Catalan language and culture. Its primary mission and goal is that the sum of all human knowledge will be also available in Catalan and that all knowledge about Catalan culture will be also available in every language.
I am also an Ambassador of the #glamwiki initiative, an international group of Wikipedians who assist cultural institutions in collaborating with Wikipedia in order to share multimedia content and cultural expertise. I work to increase and improve the relationships between the cultural sector and the free knowledge community, looking for new ways to engage with cultural heritage and sharing culture.
With a degree in Business Administration, a postgraduate degree in Cultural Projects Management and a museum studies postgraduate degree, I have more than 10 years of experience in digital projects management. As a wikipedian, I have almost 50.000 edits and have started more than 4.000 articles on the Catalan Wikipedia.
I’ve promoted and coordinated projects for several cultural institutions of Catalonia, such as Museu Picasso and MNAC -where I served as a Wikipedian in Residence-, CCCB, MACBA, Fundació Joan Miró, the Public Libraries Network or the National Archives, among several others. I am also the creator of the @CatalanMuseums project, believing that we must share our local models if we want to become universal.
During this week I will try to talk about Catalan Culture, wikis, museums and about my everyday life. Hope we can both learn from each other.
